About this blog.

My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at 24 months. I created this blog to bring meaning to the often-confusing label. Sometimes I have answers. Other times, just more questions.

What I think is amazing is that a group of parents had it together enough to pull off creating and launching their own school. Part of me would love to do that, but I wouldn't even know where to begin. I also think it's kind of an interesting issue about segregating the spectrum kids. I think the pros and cons there are kind of obvious so I won't go into it, but it is a tough issue, I think.

It is pretty cool, isn't it? People are blazing the trail for us. This is the third such story I've read in the last six months. I might even call it a trend.

Hey, I finally took your advice and started my own blog. At least, I managed to post one entry. I still haven't figured out how to do it exactly right, but I thought I would just plunge right in. Here is my first entry! http://regardingautism.blogspot.com/. It's about gamma waves. I would be very interested to hear what you think.

Laura--I've just started "Following" your blog. I'm glad you chose Floortime over ABA for such a young child. I'm a "PLAY" tutor and feel that Floortime is a MUCH more natural intervention. If parents don't feel their child is improving "enough" by the time they are 6 or7, then I can see ABA. But a lot of the behavioral issues younger kids have are due to the fact they can't communicate and nobody is giving them LANGUAGE (as opposed to "speech") ABA can give speech, but it doesn't always translate into language. Brad is adorable and I wish I lived nearby to work with him. I love your attitude and will try to finish reading your WHOLE blog over the holiday break. Happy New Year!

Karen,
Thanks for the note. I wish you lived nearby too! And I wish there were more therapists who share your sensibility.
