About this blog.

My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at 24 months. I created this blog to bring meaning to the often-confusing label. Sometimes I have answers. Other times, just more questions.

Switching it up.

Well, Brad's insurance appeal was denied. We will press forward with a second level administrative appeal, but in the interim, we're pulling the plug on services. We're going to try to apply some of the the therapy, particularly the gross motor exercises, ourselves. The fine motor activities will probably be hit or miss.

And since we're losing OT, I've put the wheels in motion on private speech.

I asked the OT for some parting words of wisdom, and she told me something that makes this mama proud. Something I've heard from many therapists before her. She complimented Brad on his great temperament. "He always smiles, and follows directions," she said. Too true. He's a great little guy.

Why do you say the fine motor will be hit or miss?

while i'm really sorry to hear about the insurance appeal- i only can imagine how draining this process is-
massive kudos for your excellent son and attitude; silver linings /rule/.

indigo doll - eh, I kind of knew this was coming. We'll be okay over the summer. I told the OT I may be back in touch in September, when the weather gets colder.

rainbowmummy - because the gross motor stuff is already in our routine. I've been doing exercises with him since he was 2.5. The grasping exercises require a little more adult direction. And gear, some of which I don't have. I do have a nice little peg board and therapy putty, which he enjoys, so that's something.

Sorry you lost the battle, but maybe that legislation will help you out, eventually?

Stuck up a post just for you and Brad :0) Hope you find it helpful, perhaps this will get me of my ass this summer to do it with Egg ;)

Yes, keep appealing.

I believe that Brad must be very fun and enjoyable to work with - what a blessing. I've only seen pictures and his smile alone cheers me.

So sorry about the services getting cut. He has an absolutely GORGEOUS smile from what I've seen.
